Project Geoarcheologist Positions
Geoarcheology Research Associates, Inc. (GRA) is seeking resumes for
Project Geoarcheologist positions. GRA, based in Yonkers, New York, is a
specialized consulting firm which has conducted geomorphological and
archaeological studies for a wide range of public and private-sector
clients for over twenty years (www.gra-geoarch.com). We are anticipating
an increased workload across the Eastern and Central United States -
particularly in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, South-central and
Midwestern regions. There is a possibility of Western projects as well.
We seek geoarcheologists to complete upcoming field-based investigations.
Applicants should have experience working in contract archaeology
environments and should be able to work both independently and as part of
a team with staff geoarchaeologists, archaeological clients, and
governmental agencies. We anticipate that many of these projects will be
fast-tracked.
Candidates for employment should have a minimum of a Master degree in
archeology/anthropology and/or the geosciences with an emphasis in
geoarchaeology, pedology, or geomorphology. We are seeking applicants for
positions in terrestrial settings, as well as individuals with experience
conducting off- and near-shore investigations employing geophysical
techniques (magnetometer, side-scan sonar, etc.). Familiarity with GPS is
expected, as is a working knowledge of GIS software. Applicants should
have experience with the archaeology and geomorphology of Eastern and
Midwestern North America, or demonstrably similar experiences.
As this point we are collecting resumes to fill positions for field,
analysis and report work which could begin this fall and extend into 2010.
There is potential for both short-term, project specific work, as well as
full-time employment. As a small business, GRA can accommodate flexible
working arrangements-such as working remotely. We encourage motivated
professionals to contribute to the direction of projects and are looking
for academic rigor to be applied to all aspects of investigations.
Expressions of interest should be in the form of a letter and a resume
with a list of references and email addresses. Be prepared to submit a
writing sample if requested. Inquiries should be forwarded to:
